Chocolate Brownies

August 19, 2010

I had such a craving for brownies last week so before I went shopping on Saturday morning, I dug through my pile of unorganised recipes hoarded from magazines and supermarkets to find an interesting looking recipe.

I went for one that uses ground almonds instead of flour, as it sold itself as really fudgy (which is a good thing in a brownie) and it lived up to its promises, the brownies were extremely yummy and disappeared very quickly once my housemates got to know about them.

250g dark chocolate (I used dark cooking chocolate)

250g unsalted butter

200g sugar

4 medium eggs

150g ground almonds

1 heaped tsp baking powder

3/4 ground cinnamon (optional)

Pack of walnut halves

Melt together chocolate and butter in a bowl over a pan of water.

Stir in sugar and leave to cool.

Fold in the eggs, ground almonds, baking powder, cinnamon (if using) and walnut halves.

Pour into buttered and lined tin tray and bake for 35mins at gas 3/170C

Leave to cool (you know at least until they’re not burning hot) cut into slices and eat.
